Family Share on iPod running 7.1

Set up Family Share on a pair of iPhone6, trying to add a iPod Touch running iOS 7.1. Follow the instructions but the mail app takes us to Safari with no next step offered. Suggestions?

Family Sharing only works on devices running iOS 8.
