Is there a way to temporarily disable the built in keyboard?

My new kitten likes to walk across my keyboard while i'm trying to watch videos. I was wondering if there is any way to temporarily turn off the keyboard so that she doesn't keep typing things and messing stuff up.

I saw that the ^f1 is supposed to turn the keyboard access on/off, but that doesn't seem to work.

I've got a Macbook Pro running Yosemite if that makes a difference.
