Custom image sizes on standard paper??

I have an Epson 2200 and I am trying to print a custom image size on standard paper. ie: a 6x9 on 8.5x11 paper. I have tried both standard and borderless paper settings. With the borderless paper setting, I cannot create a custom image size period.

Using the standard US Letter paper size, I can create the desire 6x9 image size, but under that is a pesky "border size" slider which will NOT go any lower than .81 inches. Now you would think that that is for the actual page margin and 6x9 is lower so it should be an issue, RIGHT? WRONG!

What happens is Aperture creates a 6x9 image size and THEN buts a .81 inch margin INSIDE of that so my image is more like 4x7!!!! What on EARTH were they thinking?!?!?!

Unless I am being stupid and missing something. But please, try this yourself and respond with your printer behavior. I am stuck taking ALL my images to photoshop just to print them!
