Deleted all photos via image capture and they all came back. iphone 5s iOS 8.

Hi Guys,

I backed up all my photos via iphoto on my macbook but couldn't manage to delete them. After looking around for an hour I finally realised it can be done via image capture but only if you turn off iCloud back up on your phone first. I did this and watched my phone delete all the images.

I randomly signed into iCloud via a PC yesterday and saw all my photos were still on there which was odd but fair enough but have now realised that they are all back on my phone again.

Any suggestions as to what has occurred here and how best I can resolve the issue?
