There is not a lot on your system that is obvious.

I did notice that your kernel_task is using about twice as much memory as is typical for an 8GB Mac. Normally this is caused by kernel extensions, however, the only ones you have are not currently loaded.

I did notice that you have both Dropbox AND Google Drive running on your Mac. These utility can spend a lot of time scanning your disk to see if it is are any new files to upload. That can consume disk bandwidth which can make other tasks needing the disk feel slow.

You could try booting into Safe Mode to see if there is a noticeable difference. Safe Mode does not load a lot of 3rd party stuff by default.

You just say your Mac has been running slow. Is that in general? Is that when you access disk? Is that when surf'ing the web? Reading email? Watching locally stored video? Watching video streaming from the web? Listening to Music? More details would help isolate if it is CPU, Storage, Network, or Memory that is affecting your Mac.

Thanks Bob - Actually, I find that it is slow when I'm multitasking with several applications open at once. MS Word, Safari, MS Excel, Contacts, Thunderbird (mail), etc. And it is a sporadic problem. But I think that Dropbox and Google Drive could be the culprits because I recently upgraded Dropbox and have been using it a lot more often.

Did you notice that my Time Capsule back up drive is so full? Shouldn't my O/S be deleting the old backups to make more room?

When it is running slow, look at the Applications -> Utilities -> Console logs.

When it is running slow use Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor to see if you have non-green memory pressure, an app with excessive memory, an App using excessive CPU, and App using excessive I/O.

Maybe run an EtreCheck at that moment to collect information when the system is acting up.
