how do I turn off Find my iphone so I can restore my iPhone 5C

I think the next step in trying to stop my iPhone from shutting off sporadically is to restore it. I've synced and backed up with latest IOS update, but when I hit restore, I'm told to turn of "Find my iPhone", but when I go to the settings in my iPhone and select the Find My iPhone app, I only have the option to turn off "Use Cellular Data", so I turned that off, and went back to restore, but only received the same turn off "Find my iPhone" message, so how do I turn off Find my iPhone.
