Q: 4th gen  i pod

hello i have the old thicker i pod i have had the many years and still working fine the problem i have with windows xp it finds the pod but since i have got rid if the pc and bought a new pc with windows 7 this pc will not pair the drivers are installed and i hear a noise when plugging it in but my name on the i pod will not show in the left side i have read some one temp disable the avg this i have not try yet i have installed i tunes lot of versions
