iCloud challenges on a new Macbook Pro

Just bought new Macbook Pro. Followed the set-up instructions and signed in with iCloud. It was screwing up my music in iTunes, so I wanted to sign out, update my library and then sign back in (worked on my 2008 Macbook Pro). Now I can't sign back into iCloud with the same apple ID...rejected repeatedly. Can anyone help me?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

iCloud is down for many people across the world right now despite apple's status page saying it's working. Try signing in from a browser and that will fail too. Alas, you'll have to simply wait until services are restored.
