Apple Configurator doesn't recognize supervised iPad

Charged iPad overnight through wall outlet. Only Apple logo appears. Tried reset (hold down home and sleep) with no luck. Plugged into macbook. Neither Apple Configurator nor iTunes recognizes the device. If it's dead, why is the Apple logo still displaying?

iPad, iOS 8

Hi strayschool,

Try this... Plug one end (Lighting end) into your iPad but the other end (USB end) unplugged from your computer. Power off the iPad by holding the power button for about 5 or so seconds until the screen is completely black...then let go of the power button. Now, hold the Home button down and while holding it down plug the other end of the cable into your computer. Keep holding down the Home button for about 10 seconds or until you see the restore screen on the iPad. Then let go of the Home button. You should then be able to restore the iPad using Apple Configurator.

Hope this helps!
