I have a security pop-up window from http://www.applealert.co.uk asking me to call a number 44 808-143-3684 immediately- safari alert- suspicious activity might have been detected. Major security issue. What shall I do? What does it mean??

It is a scam. Please never call the number.

1. Force Quit Safari .

Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time.

When Force Quit window appears, select Safari .
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window.

2. Relaunch Safari hold down the shift key

3. Navigate to Safari / Preferences / Security / Privacy

Cookies and website data:

Click “Details” button.

Remove the cookie related to this, if there is one.

4. Download and run adware medic tool

1. Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, close Safari, and then launch it with the Shift key held down. If that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet and/or click here and run Adware Medic. You may need to download it from a different web browser.
