Making a @IBOutlet from a second view controller won't work, fix?

I made a single view application, added @IBOutlets to the view controller.swift by right clicking and dragging using the assistant editor. Then i dragged in another view controller from the object library. Used a button in the first view controller to be able to get to the second view controller. But i can not add @IBOutlets from the second view controller. I am "new" at Xcode so please help me with this, please and thank you!!!
