ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics upgrade kit: dirt pixels

My ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics upgrade kit shows odd pixel dirt on my Mac Pro 3,1 with one Cinema HD with OS 10.10.3. A few mouse moves create a trace of black pixels and lines which stay till the windows get refreshed. I checked different PCI Slots and reset PRAM. Cinema HD is connected via standard DVI. My former card NVIDA GeForce 8800 was just working fine.

Any idea whats wrong?

This can be caused by defects in the card, and surprisingly, can also be caused by 'too many added third-party gizmos'.

etrecheck can look for the latter, Apple hardware test for gross failures in the former.

Its an hardware defect of the ATI graphic card: the replacement card works great.
