You synced your songs with your ipod, right?

First the 5th Gen requires ITunes Version 7.0 or later to function properly!

Once your new IPOD is connected go into ITunes/Devices setup pages to configure all the correct setting you prefer for transferring your files.

I personally don’t use the Sync function at this time, however everybody is different!

Which is why you need to configure it; the default values may not be working well for your needs.

Your IPOD has to be seen by ITunes.
That has to be accomplished before completing the music transfer.
Somewhere you miss doing a procedure correctly or overlooked the problem.

Again make sure all your Windows XP files have been updated.
Ensure battery is Okay.

Do a manual Reset on IPOD--by selecting
Menu and Center simultaneously, for about 6 seconds.
You may have to do this several times.
Re-try IPOD connection to ITunes.
_______________
If you still have problems you may have to Remove your ITunes software by using Windows ADD/REMOVE program.
Then Re-download ITunes 7.0 or later.
