my nephew dropped his phone and now it is not working at all, do you think it is worth taking it to a store to see if they can get the photos off it, as he has never backed it up, and the some of the photos are sentimental.

Thank you for replying so quickly. Hes only 13 and his dad passed away recently so you can imagine how upset he is. Ill take it to a shop tomorrow.
sadly if the iPhone will not respond or turn on there is no way of removing any data and it is not a service Apple Stores carry out even if it were possible
