Update Snow Leopard to Yosemite

What could go wrong? Can my 2010 13" Macbook Pro handle it?

Yes, I'm still running Snow Leopard on my macbook pro, but I have the red dot with a 1 over my app store icon and it tells me to update to Yosemite. Is it as simple as when i update my iphone? what if something goes wrong?

Looking for any advice, thanks.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), iPhone 5 iOS 8

Yes. You can upgrade.

I would suggest you backup first.

A good backup should be a great help in case any goes wrong.

1. You will lose access to any PowerPC applications you use, as well as some Intel ones; click here and look yours up. If you encounter a problem while upgrading, you may lose some or all of the files on the internal drive.

2. The installation process itself is.

3. Back up your system first, and if needed, restore it.
