Safari 6.2.3 is a CPU Hog

My Mac is making all this noise & when I open Activity Monitor, I see Safari & Safari Web Content are sucking up near 80% of my CPU with huge red spikes of writing data up to 355kb/sec. Is there any way to reduce this or is this normal?

Its always constantly hanging, loading 25-50% of a web page and its up to a few minutes & I finally x it and reload and it loads right up. Any help with this also?

Thanks to any and all who can help.

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), 256GB SSD, 32GB Ram
