The last printer driver that Canon released for the MP240 was for OS X 10.9. Here is a link from Canon Australia. This driver should install and work on Yosemite, although its installation may be blocked by Gatekeeper. To get past Gatekeeper, hold down the Control button and click the printer driver installer. A pop-up menu will appear - select Open. You will now get the option to install the driver.

Before installing this driver I suggest you remove the MP240 from Printers & Scanners and then run the driver installer. When that has completed, restart the Mac and then try to add the printer and then see if this will let you print.

I have the same issue with my MP 240 Series Printer and this has been very helpful! Thank you thank you! 🙂

My MP 240 Printer now works for printing on my Mac running on Yosemite.

However, my scanner functioning isn't responding. 😐

I pressed the "Scan" button on my printer and normally the scanner opens up automatically but it doesn't this time.

Is there a solution to make the scanning function work?

Thank you!

Hi!

I was also having this issue with my scanner after installing the Australian driver (thanks to PAHU for getting the printer working). After poking around on their website, I downloaded this driver for the scanner: http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100136101.html

After installing, I can go into my applications and open the scanner (MP Navigator EX) from the folder Cannon Utilities. The printer still doesn't do anything if I press the scan button directly on the printer itself, but I just was able to scan several documents using the prompts through the MP Navigator EX program.

Hope this helps you.
