itunes12 cannot add files

Question

itunes12 cannot add files

I seem to be having trouble adding mp3 files to a playlist in itunes12. it just will not add any files. I have been through every tutorial, nothing like that works. I have a library, it just plain old stopped working a week ago

You cannot manually add items to a smart playlist or a playlist folder.

You cannot manually add items to a regular playlist if iTunes cannot locate the original file.
