Apple TV 3 no longer sees home sharing iMac on same wifi network

Hi,

ATV 2. Itunes library is on external drive attached to iMac running latest yosemite. latest version itunes. IMac and ATV both connected to same wifi network. All was working well but a few days ago the ATV no longer registered the home share library. By comparison, another device near the ATV, a macbook pro, did recognise the home sharing library. Maybe there has been a software update that has rendered the ATV2 ineffective? Any thought appreciated..thanks

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

sorry despite the misleading heading I am in fact referring to an ATV 2

Have you done the default first step of restarting everything (ATV and iMac, and maybe even the router)?

Hi there, yes I've restarted everything and the router, but I think I will also do that one more time and make sure all three are powered down at the same time before restarting router, then imac, then atv2. will report back if that makes any difference.
