Still Slow Start for OS X 10.10.3

It still takes alost 3 minutes to start my 2011 MacBook after I installed OS X 10.10.3
I already did the following advice:

  1. Selected Macintosh HD in my start up disk
  2. Repaired some issues using Recovery HD
  3. Cleaned up login
  4. Updated OS X 10.10.3 just last night for bug fixes

Still takes 3 minutes to boot. Please help.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I would try the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test from the App Store to see if the HDD is consistent while reads and writes data. The app is free and easy to use. What I would look for the most is how consistent the dive is at max read/write loop cycles, while taking screenshots (Shift+Cmd+3) of the reading.

If the MB/s R/W data vary considerably from one screenshot to another (about 5-10 MB/s), then the HDD might have a problem. That type of problem could be from within the HDD electronics and not a mechanical one, especially when data R/W inconsistencies progress or, accentuate the longer you run the test. Give it a try and post the numbers you have gathered from the test.

I have an early 2011 13" MacBook Pro that I'm on right now.

I upgraded the HD to an SSD:

http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Mercury_6G/

and bumped the RAM to 8 GB:

http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_133 3MHz_SDRAM

All from OWC (Wouldn't use anyone's else stuff, never a problem in 9 years of dealing with them.) and largely based on their benchmarks:

http://eshop.macsales.com/Reviews/Framework.cfm?page=/Benchmarks/CS6BenchmarkPag e-MacBookPro13.html

Note in that first benchmark the thing that makes the most difference is the SSD. I just tested a 3G OWC SSD in my massively slow bench 20" iMac 2006 w/ 2 GB RAM running 10.7.X. It made such a difference that I'm definitely going the SSD route. I have been so irritated on that machine, waiting on the spinning beach balls. With the SSD no beachballs! I'm receiving 4 GB RAM today but I'm betting that won't make as big a difference as the SSD.

Here's a startup on my 2011 13" MBP:

Photoshop CS 6 open job:

It's running Mavericks, 10.9.5. I'm avoiding Yosemite due to problems I see around here like yours.

You can also see that I keep a lot of crap on the multiple desktops as well as all 3 browsers open at the same time.
