Q: Upgrading from 10.6.8 to 10.10.3 downloaded system pkg, clicked on it and got Alert "This update requires OS X version 10.10."

I'm attempting to upgrade the system on my MacBoolk Pro which is currently running OS X v 10.6.8.  I've downloaded OS X v 10.10.3 software from the App Store, clicked on the package and after a couple of minutes delay back comes the Alert "This update requires OS X version 10.10."  I can't find a downloadable version of OS X v 10.10 antwhere.  What do I do?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

!0.10 isn't available and the only version of Yosemite is 10.10.3.

Any chance you downloaded just the 10.10.3 updater (for 10.10 through 10.10.2) from the Support pages at Apple?

    Sign in to App Store.

Click OS X Yosemite under "All Categories" on the right side.

Duh! So How does one obtain OSX10.10.3? The Updater (1.9GB) takes several hours to waste. Last time I tried Uploading an update, it took two weeks to upload and three weeks to re-install 10.6.8. And Apple cannot understand why more of us don't update. We all don't live in silicon valley anymore. My property taxes are one sixth of California.

Unless you previously downloaded OS 10, it is no longer available. If you have downloaded it, do to the App Store Purchases tab. If you live near an Apple Store, you might be able to get the OS from them.
