iPhone 6 battery drain

Is it normal for a new iPhone 6 to show this : Usage 8 minutes, Standby 35 minutes and the battery is 90%. I haven't use any apps because I didn't download them yet. All that I was using was iMessage for 2 minutes and the rest maybe looking at the Settings or just unlocking the phone. The other day my battery stayed at 100% for 40 minutes while using Whatsapp and iMessage.
