my macBook Pro will not allow me to import my photos from my iphone6 from this past april and may. it only imported from jan-march only. why?

Does iPhoto or Photos or Image Capture see the phone?
using Photos.. all software in all devices is updated... just won't find new pictures that ARE on the Camera Roll on the phone.. only the ones until April. Quite annoying.
So the photos do appear on the iPhone after April?
Did you turn on Photos in Setting>iCloud?
