I just purchased a new macbook pro 15 inch in February 2015 and the battery only lasts about 2 hours from fully charged while doing very little such as using google chrome only. Any ideas why it is only lasting this amount? thanks
Try using Safari rather than Chrome.
Your MBP comes with a warranty. An evaluation at an Apple store genius bar may result in a solution of your problem.

if you download and run the free http://macdaddy.io/mac-battery-guru/ it will tell you how much your battery is draining in the menu bar constantly, so you'll be able to see if it's a software issue.
if it's a hardware issue it also tells you the health of the battery, so it would let you diagnose that too.
