sending email with bad email address

I wondered about lack of response to an email. So, I deliberately sent an email with a bogus (bad) email address. I DO NOT get any notification that the email was not received. I can't find anything in Apple Mail settings to change this and wounding if it is a function of my ISP.

Thanks for taking time to look.

Even if someone has changed an email it doesn't mean the old address still doesn't receive mail. If the owner of the email address doesn't check that mail anymore and hasn't officially closed that account it remains useable. How does the email service provider (not isp) know the user isn't using it any more?

How do you know you sent your email to a "bogus" email address?
