Help, my TextEdit crashed and lost a saved textedit file and I can't find it anywhere now

Hello, I would really appreciate any help. I have a TextEdit file that I use daily and re-save constantly. I was working on TextEdit and had that document and a number of others opened when TextEdit crashed. When i restarted it the file was nowhere to be found...it's not in recent documents and nowhere on my laptop, despite having been saved numerous times over the past 6 months. Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it! (I've seen come information about going to Library which I can't find on my OSX 10.9.5 mac). Thank you!
