Q: Mac keeps failing to boot

Hey everyone, my Early 2011 17inch MBP keeps failing to boot and I'm at a loss to what the reason could be. I thought it may be the harddrive, but I really don't know.

How far do you get? What OSX do you have installed?

Try SMC and NVRAM resets:

It eventually boots up and says that it had to be restarted due to a problem, then gives me the above log.

I've tried the SMC and NVRAM resets many times as I've been googling this for over a week now :') and even Safe Boot fails to load sometimes.

You may use your original Snow Leopard installation disks or boot into the recovery partition to get to Disk utility..

Run Disk Utility>First Aid, Verify and Repair.

If the Disk cannot be repaired, it will have to be replaced.

I can get into the recovery partition using CMD + R when it decides to boot that far, and run the Disk Utility. It mostly finds either a few permissions wrong which it 'repairs' or nothing at all. I have had it say once that the HDD is corrupted and needs repairing, which I did, and it still fails to boot at times.

The SMART thing is still saying Verified too.

I've addressed all o f those points to my knowledge, I've even done a fresh format and install. AHT comes up as error free everytime I've ran it too.

I can't think of anything else.

By any chance have you installed third party RAM in your MBP? If so, test with the original modules.

Download and post an Etrecheck report. It may possibly provide a clue:

I have indeed, I've also changed the RAM over to the ones that were in my dads MBP, which were the same make but newer. I'm not sure where my original ram is to check. I currently have his RAM in my MBP at this moment in time too.

What is the Exact model/year MBP that you dad has? Is that RAM original to your dad's MBP?
