Old iPhoto to iCloud
I've got tons of pictures on my old 2006 iMac running an old OS and an old version of iPhoto that I'd like to upload to iCloud. What's the easiest way to do it?

Thanks for the reply.
I understand that there's no easy/built-in way to do it. But you can log in to iCloud and upload manually from anywhere, and I have more than enough room in my iCloud account.
But there has to be a faster way than hitting upload and navigating through all my iPhoto folders.
iCloud is not a backup or a cloud storage service like, say Dropbox. If you're uploading to My Photo Share, be careful. There's a limit of 30 days/1000 photos.
WHy do you want to upload all your images to iCloud? Perhaps there's a better way to accomplish what you want.
My Photo Stream and the iCloud Photo Library are two totally different things.
The iCloud Photo Library IS a backup/cloud storage service, while My Photo Share is not.
iCloud Photo Library is not a backup - it is an operating library that is modified by all devices that use it
You must still have a backup if you photos are valuable to you
Apple clearly states this in their iCloud hype page

Use Time Machine to back up your Photos library
Your photos and videos are important. Even if you use iCloud Photo Library, it’s recommended that you use Time Machine to back up your Mac, including your Photos library.
Keep your Photos library and Time Machine backups on different disks. An easy way to do this is to keep your Photos library in your Pictures folder (the default location), and set Time Machine to back up to an external drive, a disk on your network, or a Time Capsule.

Semantics aside (and yes, I also use time machine), what's the best way to get my old pictures to the iCloud Photo Library?
best way is the Photos application
The only other alternative from your Mac is a web upload to the iCloud web site
