iPad screen gets stuck in portrait

A couple months ago, my iPad started periodically stuck in portrait mode. The only way to unstick is to reboot, which aways corrects the problem. The problem only happens when I'm resuming from sleep/standby. The home screen will stick in portrait as will some but not all apps. I've tried turning screen rotation lock on and off, closing all open programs, going into and out of sleep/standby but none of that helps. Again, the only way to resolve the problem is to reboot. While that's not hard, it's time consuming and inconvenient? Anyone else having this problem or heard of a fix for it? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

ps: not sure this is the right community to post my question in, didnt see one that seemed a better fit.
