Is it possible? I have 49 word attachments and would like to download and move into docs at once. How could I do this without downloading one at a time, saving etc etc.

You don't say if they are all in one email or in 49 separate emails. In any case, I would do this:
create a blank folder on your desktop, then have your Mail open, and open each email and just drag the attachment from each of the email(s) in Mail to that folder on your desktop. Takes just a second or two for each. Your Mail still has the Word document(s) and your folder would have them as well.

then you should be able open up that email and select all of them then do a right click and see options including
Save Selected Attachments (where you can name a new folder)
or
Save to Download Folder
