My mac won't connect wirelessly to my Bt Hub4, will airport express resolve the issue?

I have a 2011 mac book pro, running Mavericks; after recently changing ISP to BT, I have been sent a home hub 4. The hub and my mac worked wirelessly for around 2 weeks. After this time the home hub won't give my mac an IP to work wirelessly. I am not sure what to do now as all other apple products and printer, etc will work wirelessly. I am not sure whether purchasing an Airport Express would resolve the issue?

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

According to reports, the BT routers work better if you disable the 2.4 GHz band and use the 5 GHz band only. You would make that change in the router's administration page.
