Wi-Fi no longer shows as an option on MacBook Pro

Hello All:

I recently did a clean install of Mac OS X Yosemite on my Mid-2012 MacBook Pro. At the time that I did the install, I was not in a place that had Wi-Fi, and chose the option that said 'no Wi-Fi device is installed on this machine' (I'm paraphrasing but that's the gist of it), so that I could proceed with the installation and set up Wi-Fi when some was available. Now I can't connect at all, and Wi-Fi doesn't even show up as an option anymore in the Network section of System Preferences. I know that the Wi-Fi card is present and was working fine prior to making that choice during installation. Is there any way to get Wi-Fi back on the machine?

I have tried:

  • resetting the VRAM
  • resetting the SMC

...and some others that I don't remember at the moment. Please help if you can!

MacBook Pro (Mid-2012)

2.5 GHz Intel Core i5

4 GB RAM

750 GB HDD @ 7200 RPM

Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.
