Will 6tb drives from HGST(Hitachi) work on a 2008 mac pro

Hello Mac Community !

I have the new Hitachi HGST 6 TB HD. Will 6 TB drive work on my MacPro 2008.

From external drive USB 2.0 it runs very well, but from my Bay 1-4 I can't format the HD.

Trouble...: EFI-Systempartition check ??

Could anyone help me ...

Thank you in advance.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Let's step back a sec.

SATA III is backward and vendors aren't selling drives that don't work properly with SATA II.

They need a special drive sled.

OWC sells the drive sleds, but the sleds for 2009+ are also a different length - not for 2008, supports fatter 4-6TB

There is a bug in the GUI of Disk Utility with drives - alll drives - over 2.2TB.

I have not used the terminal - you can check the man page for diskutil - though you should have fornatted it as needed in your external case.
