fcpx xml to logic pro x read wrong?

We are trying to expand our operation to outsourcing our audio to be finished professionally. We are cutting in fcpx and it makes the most sense to work with logic for audio finishing, however the fcpx xml is not being read properly or something along those lines. We end up with several duplicates of tracks all a second or so off from one another, some clips don't have the correct in and out points, some clips are in the wrong place, some clips are missing. It is a total mess.

We thought it may be the versions, so we updated our systems, fcpx, and our audio guy is on the latest version of logic.

OSX 10.10.3 FCPX 10.2.1 Logic Pro X 10.1.1

We tried a variation of audio clips, video paired with audio, subclips, multicam clips, different event's, different libraries, different projects, sometimes the same FCPXML will import differently and the amount of extra tracks will be different.

We've tried opening the FCPXML inside and outside of Logic...

Logic seems totally illogical?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Foothill,

Short answer is that XML export/import is buggy. Sometimes it works, lots of times it messes up.

Be sure to file bug report/feedback to Apple. We all hope someday Apple will fix this.

Ironically using a third party app X2Pro seems to fix the issues. This app was created to allow FCPX audio export to ProTools, but it works great for Logic. You export an AAF from X2Pro and import into Logic.

It is available in the App Store.

How can a small 3rd party company have much better file handling than 2 Apple Pro Apps? We shouldn't have to buy an app to use Apple apps fully.

Hope this helps, Greg
