Why is it saying that my apple id cannot be used to unlock my iPad even though it is the apple I used to set up the IPad ? please help ASAP, thanks.

I changed my passcode on my ipad and got it incorrect so I went on iTunes and somehow the ipad restarted and it told me to enter the apple id that I used to set up the Ipad.

Would apple solve this for free?

iPad Air, iOS 8.1.2, Brand new

Your description of the events is a little confusing. If your device is brand new like your profile line says, you get free phone support from Apple for 90 days. However, it sounds like the iPad is Activation locked and you are saying that it will not accept your Apple ID as the correct ID that was used to activate the iPad.


Did you actually activate the iPad out of the box yourself or did you have someone else do it? Is the iPad actually brand new or just brand new to you?
