Macbook Pro Retina Sudden broken LCD

Hello everyone,

I am new to this community, but I am here as I am completely lost and helpless with my Macbook Pro Retina and hope to find some more insight from your knowledge.

Just a few background info: My laptop is 2 months old, I take complete care of it (It goes in a very well protected bag, I work on flat surfaces, no liquids nearby, I carry it always closed with two hands). From all the laptops I have had, this first MacBook Pro / Apple laptop received Princess-treatment.

Yesterday I was working with my laptop for the good half of the day. Perfectly fine, happy with it as always. I went out of my home with my mom, left it on its own (nobody else was home) and when I came home, screen was still working fine. All of a sudden vertical lines of all colors running 6cm wide went on my screen. It is still there. The lines dance when the laptop is being moved to close it.

I was told that this is a "phyiscal damage" and "cannot be covered by my 1st year warranty".

I feel extremely lost and upset, because I cannot point to a rational reason as to why my LCD broke. There had been no pressure applied to it prior to it failing.

Can anybody please help me understand this more? I have a $600 bill for the replacement.. I have just spent 2000€ last two months with the justification that Apple products are very good quality (I am not implying nor saying it isn't). I am not here to play victim, but at least get an understanding why I even deserve to pay another huge premium on top of my laptop...

Thank you all for your insight.
