Q: how do i migrate my iPhoto library to Photos for OS X 10.10.3

I had a slide presentation ready to go in iPhotos, but when my computer updated to OS X 10.10.3, iPhoto became inactive. I can't find a way to migrate my iPhotos library, and I can't find my album that was entirely ready for my slide presentation. I need this immediately! Any ideas?

If you can I suggest you try to get iPhoto 9.6.1 as léonie mentioned as the slideshow options and control are not nearly as good, IMO, as those in iPhoto. Stay with iPhoto as long as you can.

Have you tried to update iPhoto to version 9.6.1? Only that version is working with Yosemite MacOS X 10.10.3.
To update see: Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS... | Apple Support Communities

I can't find a way to migrate my iPhotos library,
What happens when you try? The usual way to migrate is to drag the iPhoto Library onto the Photos icon in the Dock.

Are you seeing any error messages, when you try?
Is your iphoto Library in your Pictures folder or on an external drive?

Your slideshow may change during the migration, if the theme is not available, see: How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

Thanks, Léone and Old Toad! I finally got through on a chat to Pete at Apple Support, and he helped me with the rest of the puzzle. When I tried to use iPhoto, it had a circle-and-slash through it, and when I tried to open it, an alert box told me that iPhoto was not available in the U.S. market. GASP! Pete told me to throw it in the trash, empty the trash, and then download a fresh version (which is, indeed, 9.6.1) from the App store. The download took over two hours, but all is well now: all my library, albums, and slideshows are back in their proper place, and my daughter's graduation montage will go forward in all its glory! Our beloved iPhoto is back on the launch bar--next to the new Photos app, and I am relieved and happy. Kaching!
