Q: Still cannot get photos from iOS devices or via iCloud

Please, please tell me how to get all of my photos. I basically have a mess either way, but I can't even transfer them to my PC at all (the list of photo thumbnails won't scroll and there is no Select All button).

I have multiple devices on one iTunes account. I bought iCloud space and still have room. I can't get the photos from any sort of folder other than Photo Stream which is just every photo with NO date! I have over a year's worth of photos and iCloud clumped them together with no date. And that is even if I can select and move them anyway.

Please give me some procedure to get these off. I could have transferred them one at a time (and still no date - just scrambled names of folders) but there was an error in transferring directly from the devices to the PC. Now I can't get anything because I enabled space saving mode and let iCloud take them. Now they are on iCloud, but I have no procedure to remove them and then delete from the devices.

Can I somehow get the photos from some sort of backup folder? How can I actually download these from iCloud (and avoid everything lumped together on one date)?

Thank you!

    Hello there, kidya.

When trying to get copies of your iCloud content to your computer, the following Knowledge Base Article provides a great place to start:

Archive or make copies of your iCloud data - Apple Support

    Photos and videos

You might already have a copy of your library in iCloud Photo Library and the last 30 days of photos in My Photo Stream:

    • If you enabled iCloud Photo Library, your photos and videos are automatically uploaded to iCloud at full resolution. To make copies of these photos and videos:
      • In iOS 8 or later, select Download and Keep Originals, then import the photos to your computer.
      • In OS X Yosemite v10.10.3 or later, open the Photos app, then select Download and Keep Originals.
      • Use iCloud.com to download the most recent version of photos and videos to your computer.
    • In OS X, My Photo Stream photos are automatically imported to your Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture library, unless My Photo Stream and Automatic Import are turned off in the app's preferences. If you enabled iCloud Photo Library, you can find your photos in the All Photos folder instead of My Photo Stream.
Use these steps to check your settings:
    • In Windows, My Photo Stream photos are automatically imported when My Photo Stream is turned on in iCloud for Windows.

You can also use the steps below to manually copy your photos and videos. Any comments or likes attached to a shared photo aren't saved, and photos and videos saved from shared albums aren't full resolution.

Copy content from My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing in Windows

All photos in My Photo Stream are automatically saved to your Windows PC, and saved photos are available even if you turn off Photos in iCloud for Windows. To save photos and videos from a shared stream, you must first save them to another folder on your hard drive:

    1. Open iCloud for Windows:
      • In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow   in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.
      • In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, then click the iCloud tile.
      • In Windows 7, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
    2. Click the Options button next to Photos (or Photo Stream). Note the path listed under "iCloud Photos location."
    3. Open a File Explorer window (Windows 8) or Windows Explorer window (Windows 7).
    4. Go to the iCloud Photos folder location using the path you noted earlier. Open the Shared folder.
    5. Select the photos you want to save, then copy them to another folder on your hard drive. Include this folder if you back up your computer's hard drive to another device or service.

For information on backing up your Windows computer, see Microsoft Support.

Thanks for participating in Apple Support Communities.

    Kind Regards,

    Pedro.

Thank you for trying, Pedro. The photostream is only the last 30 days, not the full 1 year or more. The iCloud folder on my PC is only 321 photos out of over 1,000. The computer is not full, the iCloud space I bought is not full, the devices are uploading to iCloud (or so they say).

In addition, all of the photos are undated or the wrong date, not the date taken. I need advanced help here. I have already read that article and over 50 other articles or help topics and no solution. I turned on "optimize storage" so now I don't even have the high res images on the devices even if I found the offending error file blocking mass transfer from device directly to PC via USB.

The only and best solution for me here is somehow downloading directly from iCloud, not from the iCloud folder on my PC. iCloud itself on the devices at least has the date. Please let me know where or who (apple store?) can get my photos. Thank you!
