Migrating from Eudora to Apple Mail

Hi there - I need to move from OS 10.6.8 to 10.7 and so must move 20 years of emails from Eudora 6.2.4 into Apple Mail. I've been working on this for a while already, using Eudora Mailbox Cleaner and the demo version of Emailchemy. I've managed to get everything working except one major thing: none of the attachments are showing up in my Out or Sent mail after importing, using either of those programs. Eudora Mailbox Cleaner worked better, by the way. Attachments seem to show up fine on all my In mailbox emails but not the Out box. I know many of you have dealt with this migration at one point or another. Can anyone tell me the trick for getting attachments to migrate with the emails in the Out mailbox? I can't afford to lose them.

Export Eudora mail to the format you can import into Thunderbird. Use Thunderbird to import the exported Eudora mail. Then export from Thunderbird to a format compatible with Mail - mbox. Also, see Migrating Eudora From Windows to MAC.

Thanks, Kappy. I'll give that a shot. Should I try Eudora Mailbox Cleaner again as the go-between? My Eudora is Mac, by the way.

I don't know, actually. Eudora seems not to have much compatibility with any other email programs like Mail, but check to see what file formats it will export. Wish I could tell you more but I haven't used Eudora since the days of Mac OS 6.

Hi Kappy - I tried exporting to Thunderbird but it didn't work any better than Mail for preserving Outgoing attachments. It's still a puzzle!
