OS X Snow Leopard Server Won't Install

I tried to install OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro, and it opens and says you need to restart so OS X can install. I press restart and it just boots back into Lion, without the installer. I have no idea whats wrong.

Cheers,
Adam

Guessing that you have a MacPro5,1 here...

The minimum OS for that system is 10.6.4 (10F2521). Snow Leopard DVD runs were few and far between. I'd guess that your OS X Server DVD is probably 10.6.3.

It's possible to work around this, but you'll need a system capable of booting 10.6.3, and probably an external HD. The process would be:

- Install from DVD

- boot and update to 10.6.8/9 (the last update escapes me at the moment)

- make an image of the volume (using Disk Utility)

- scan the image for restore

- boot the Mac Pro in Target Disk Mode and restore the image to it
