When will Air drop finally work?

Hi folks,

since the introduction of Air Drop, Air Drop has actually never worked. It rarely finds other devices and because of that it is simply useless.

I wonder when will Apple finally fix this issue?! The Internet is full with reports of angry and disappointed Air drop users :-(
