Had a MBPro mid-2010 A1286 2.66 GHz 8 GB RAM running on OS X 10.10.3 that was repaired by Apple (replaced logic board). It came back with SSD wiped and OS X 10.9.4 installed? Is that the highest OS X version that is compatible with this MB Pro model? Thanks for any insights!

Niel, Thanks. Wondering why it came back from Apple with Mavericks installed. I was wondering of Yosemite would make machine slower or less usable. Are their others out there that have upgraded this model to Yosemite and noticed no problems?

The SSD should work but the speeds will be limited by the MBP's SATA2 connectivity.

I'm hoping to upgrade my mid 2009 2.26Ghz with 8Gb ram to Yosemite soon so I'll let you know, just trying to find out if an SSD Sata III drive will work in mine correctly.
I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro that is also A1286. And i'm currently running the latest OS X to this date (10.11.2 El Capitan)
