How do you increase iMac GB?

I only have 28 gb of space left on my mid 2011 iMac, total space is 500gb....how can i increase that?

The easiest method (IMHO) is getting an external HD and then moving large libraries, i.e. iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie the EHD. These tend to take up the most space on a most people's HD. Apple explains how to do this in:

You need to delete some space hogging files as you are getting close to the absolute minimum space required for the OS to function properly; follow rkaufmann's suggestions and delete the files after moving them to an external drive - the only other way to increase it would be to take your iMac to an authorized service provider and install a larger hard drive which is not for the faint of heart on iMacs.
