Jun 6, 2015 7:58 AM in response to ineedHelp42by gail from maine,Probably because you don't have a Rescue email address set up? A Rescue email address is different than both your Primary Apple ID email address as well as any Alternate addresses you may have.
You can contact Apple Support to have them reset:
Once you are able to get into your Apple ID again, you can set up your Rescue email address as outlined in this link:
Manage Primary, Rescue, Alternate, and Notification email addresses
You should, however, consider Two-Step Verification:
