Q: How can Migrating Issues be fixed on an external drive?
Attempting to migrate an iPhoto Library to Photos from an external drive. Get the following message.
"Photos was unable to make a copy of your library before preparing it. Photos does not have the necessary permissions to create a Photos library in the folder that contains your library."
This support article only covers this message if the iPhoto library is in your user directory. This is a large library and I do not wish to copy the library to the Mac.

How is the external HD formatted? It must be formatted OS X Extended (journaled) with Ownership set to be ignored for Photos to be able to use the EHD.
