Jun 10, 2015 4:15 PM in response to SlickWattsby SlickWatts,Well, I figured out how to change libraries. I figured it was the option key or the like. So good there. Now just need to see if I copy the whole database on the EHD is successful on a non-journaled EHD.

Jun 10, 2015 4:40 PM in response to SlickWattsby Old Toad,You can change that to journaled without reformatting. Select the drive/volume in Disk Utilities left hand pane and use the File ➙ Enable Journaling.. menu option:
Journaling keeps track of changes before they are actually made. So that in the case of a crash or power failure such file systems come back on line quicker and are less likely to be corrupted.

You can do that but you give up features like all of Apple's iCloud services & the benefits of a journalling file system. It is not a very prudent thing to do if your photos are important to you.
