Q: "Duplicated" or wasted storage space with Photos AND iPhoto
I've recently migrated to a new MacBook Pro with a lesser storage space on the Flash Drive.
It's prompted me to explore how much space was being used by my photos. Via OmniDiskSweeper, it turns out that my iPhoto user Library is consuming 110GB, AND my Photos is using 80GB. Out of a total of 250GB this doesn't leave me much!
I've read on other posts about the intricacies of the archiving process from iPhoto to Photos (which I didn't feel I had much choice in!), but what can I do?
I only use Photos now, and have started storing many large-file videos externally - is that 110GB iPhoto Library just wasted?
Also, does deleting the videos from Photos (once they have been copied to an external drive) actually free up space?
Thanks
