Q: Messages on both iPhone and iMac

I have messages on my iMac running 10.10.3 and an iPhone 6 iso 8.3. I can receive and send to some of my contacts from both iMac and iPhone devices but others I can only text message them using my iPhone, why? is there a setting I have failed to set correctly?

    Hi,

Is there anything specific you have spotted about these particular contacts ?

Are they all Android for instance ?

Do they have older phones that might not do MMS as well as SMS ?

In the Contacts app does their Address Card lack a Country Code ?

Realistically it could be anything and it could take ages and many tests to try and find out why.

    Hello, Jim.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you are unable to text certain contacts on your Mac using Continuity.  Try going through these troubleshooting steps as they may help with this issue.

Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite

    Cheers,

    Jason H.
