Q: Bluetooth connectivity in iOS 8.3

I Am running iOS 8.3 on my iPhone 6, and I am trying to connect my wireless powerbeats headphones.  When I turn on Bluetooth on both devices I hear the connection tone in the headphones, and in settings the bluetooth menu says that the devices are paired.  However, when I play music the sound comes out of the phones speakers.  I then have to go back in to settings and click on the headphones, after I do that I am able to hear the music in the headphones.  Any suggestions on how to avoid this seemingly un-necessary extra step?

    Hi JohnFab,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you have paired your wireless Powerbeats with your iPhone, but initially the sound comes from the iPhone speaker. With your Powerbeats paired and turned on, the easiest way to switch the audio output would be to use the AirPlay option in Control Center. This menu with show which devices can be changed for sound output and will quickly allow you to change from iPhone to Powerbeats.  For more information, please refer to the following attached article.

Play audio to a Bluetooth accessory

If you want to play audio to a Bluetooth accessory, you'll need to select the accessory. You can do this by using the AirPlay option in Control Center.

    iPone, Bluetooth

While on a call you can tap audio and select the device you want to use.
