Q: Playlist Folders Missing from iTunes 12.1

The problem persists! All of my Playlist Folders have suddenly disappeared from my iTunes library. My playlists that were NOT in a Playlist Folder are still there, but the Playlist Folders and all the playlists within them are missing.

I thought I had this resolved after following the instructions on the Apple support page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203225

The playlist folders re-appear, but only for a short span. iTunes runs through a library update and the playlist folders disappear again. I've experienced this THREE times now, and I can't find a way to interrupt the library update to copy the playlists in the playlist folders into new playlists.

This is extremely frustrating!

See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash. If Time Machine is set up then you may get a better version of your library file from it.

It may sometimes help to open iTunes in iTunes Safe Mode, then close it again and reopen normally.

There is also a hidden file called Sentinel in the iTunes library folder. Deleting this can prompt iTunes to run an integrity check on its database when it starts up which might resolve your issue. Backup the existing .itl file before you try this.
